Scholarship program scheme improved
by: Aljomar Ibasco Several changes were made in the College’s scholarship system that include the expansion for qualification for the merit scholars and the addition of alumni scholars. Director of Admissions Office, Mr. Wilberto Mayol, explained that these revisions will benefit the scholars through opening the opportunity to “upgrade or downgrade” the percentage of discount depending on the student’s general weighted average (GWA). “Nagkaroon tayo ng revision para ma-assure ang quality ng students na mayroon tayo. Isa ring dahilan ay para magkaroon tayo ng top caliber students sa mga board exams,” Mr. Mayol said. Scholars may now avail for 25% and 75% discount for miscellaneous fees and tuition provided that the students will maintain the required GWA in the respective scholarship cluster. In addition, the old 50% and 100% scholars still remain. Prior to this revision is the addition of Alumni Scholarship that offers financial aid for the offspring of EAC graduates wherein their miscellaneous fees and tuition will not be affected by tuition hikes. Rate per subject will also remain unaffected throughout his/her course. “The thing is, mas magpupursige yung estudyante na magsipag para makakuha ng mas mataas na discount, mas namo-motivate silang mag-aral,” said Mr. Mayol relating to the cases of students in the previous system who were dispossessed of their scholarship grants once they did not meet their respective grade requirement for the 50% or 100% scholarship.
