EAC Dasmariñas, Cavite 3rd Ring & Pin Ceremony held

The 2,142- (nursing) and 1,377- (midwifery) required, clinical hour duty officially ended with the conduct of the Emilio Aguinaldo College -Dasmariñas, Cavite Campus, School of Nursing & Midwifery Third Ring & Pin Ceremony last April 12, 2008, held at Tanghalang Yaman Lahi, Emilio Aguinaldo Sports & Cultural Center, Manila.

The event also saw the proud and happy graduating students while in white gala / clinical uniform, strutting along Gen. Luna Street, on their way to the ceremony venue. For parents, seeing their child in that attire would make them teary-eyed and emotional, considering the years of toil and hardship they had to undergo, just to make their children finish their course.

Academic dean Dr. Aurora P. Gervacio gave the welcome remarks while dean of the school of nursing Prof. Mary Jane L. Olid introduced the guest speaker.

That hot afternoon event also saw three men whose messages should now become part of the students’ memories of their stay here.

Fr. “Ronnie” Rodriguez of the University of La Sallete College Seminary, Biga, Silang, Cavite, celebrant of the liturgical celebration, during the first four parts of the program told the graduating nursing and midwifery students, “remember that this is the start of your service -- start of your new life and, I hope that that life will be for God and for your fellowmen.”

At the ceremony proper, EAC President Jose Paulo E. Campos began describing the world conditions especially its ecology. He saw the scenario dark. “But I don’t know what kind of world you want to have,” he added.

In the later part of his message as president of the college, Dr. Campos said he hopes the Emilians to create a world where they could raise their families enjoy life and join a “community where each one trusts another.” This virtue, he said, is one that which “makes communities survive”.

Hon. Marco Antonio C. Sto. Tomas, member of the Board of Nursing of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), in his inspirational talk, said that the “call of duty” should be the one that motivates more our students, rather than the material considerations associated to the nursing course today.

He said he really wanted to meet the nursing students so he could narrate his personal experiences and insights he had about seeing other nursing students, their parents and relatives across the country.

During the last part of the ceremony, students who showed exceptional achievements were made to receive their respective awards:
