College of Business Administration

Through the years, the College of Business Administration has stood true to its mission:

The forerunner of the College of Business Administration was the College of Secretarial Administration, popularly known as Med Sec, one of the pioneer course offerings of the school. It offered Bachelor of Science in Secretarial Administration with Dr. Gregorio Delgado as its first dean. In June 13, 1979, it was established as the College of Secretarial and Business Administration.

In January 1980 as a response to the determined efforts of the College to ensure that its graduates will adequately meet the manpower demands of the various business sectors in a developing nation, the College of Secretarial and Business Administration was born. It started with the institutional Philosophy of the College, which is “ Build your tomorrow by what you can do today”.

Some of the heads of the college were: Mr. Dwight Carlito (1985); Ms. College of Business AdministrationLydia A. de Ungria (1986); Ms. Rizalina Lopez (1987). In 1988 the late Mrs. Julie Arreza, MPA, was hired as Dean and was tasked to prepare the curriculum for the five majors being offered by the college. In June of the same year, the Commission on Higher Education approved the curriculum leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Management, Finance, Economics and Marketing. The College became a member of prestigious business groups like the Philippine Association of Collegiate Schools of Business (1989) and the Bishop Businessmen’s Conference for Human Development that serves as a training ground for students.

The succeeding school years witnessed the growth of the college not only in courses offered, but in the number of students as well. In 1994, the college produced its first batch of Certified Public Accountants (CPA's). And in 1997, the college reached a passing percentage of 42.85% in the Customs Broker’s Licensure Examination with one of its graduates, Laurel Dominic Pedrialva, placing fourth over-all in the national level.

Bachelor of Science in Accountancy

The preparation for a career in Accountancy consists largely of a formal education that teaches the students the basic principles of business management, economics, accounting and finance thereby providing a good foundation for career knowledge. The four-year course will prepare them to become, not only Certified Accountant but also Managers, Auditors, and Management Consultants embodied with the ideals of continuing education, social concern, and proper values in the practice of their profession.
Hence, these students shall harbor and nurture the ambition of having for themselves a successful career in Accountancy.

Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration

The College of Customs Administration commits itself in providing excellent and competitive customs administrators and brokers versed in the matters of domestic and international trades through relevant and globally competitive education. The College will prepare students to meet the requirements of professional customs brokers in the Philippines. It aims to develop students to become customs brokers who are competent and knowledgeable in the import and export operations.

Graduates of a Bachelor of Science in Customs Administration should be able to:

  1. Give advice or act as a consultant in matters relating to tariff and customs laws, rules and regulations, and other laws, rules and regulations affecting or in connection with the activities of importation and exportation of articles;
  2. Prepare customs requisite documents for import and export;
  3. Prepare a declaration of customs duties, taxes and other charges;
  4. Prepare and process import and export entries and documents required under the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines (TCCP) for filing with the Bureau of Customs and other government agencies;
  5. Represent importers and exporters before any government agency or private entity in cases relating to valuation, examination and classification of import and export articles;
  6. Render professional services in matters relating to tariff and customs laws, its procedures and practices; and
  7. Teach and conduct researches pertaining to the tariff and customs laws.

After completion of the program and passing the licensure examination, the graduates can pursue a career in customs brokerage and related professions.
