Library Department
The Emilio Aguinaldo College provides library resources and services covering the curricular, institutional, research, and recreational programs of the College. It develops student's skill in the use of library materials and services most appropriate and meaningful in their growth and development as individual.
The EAC Library composed of the Main Library, Manila which is located at the second floor of EAC I and third floors of EAC I and VI, the Technology Resource Center of the library is presently housed in the third (3rd) floor of EAC VII, the Medical Library is at the Penthouse of the Medical Center Manila and which house the medical books and journals, and the EAC Library Extension in Dasmariñas, Cavite which caters to the research and reading needs of students and employees of the EAC Cavite.
Student Auxiliary Services
1. Objectives of the Library
- To make the library a place for conducive and fruitful learning.
- To train library users the skills in the use of library facilities.
- To provide students with library materials and services most appropriate in their growth and development as individual.
- To assist the faculty in the task of carrying out their course syllabi.
- To support and supplement the instructional program of the college.
- To cooperate with the administration, faculty and students in the establishment of the library as an integral part of the education program.
- To assist the administration in developing good public relation through pleasant and friendly contacts with students, faculty, staff and the people in the community.
2. Readers’ Services
The Readers’ Services oversees the operation of all the programs, services and facilities that concern the information needs of EAC faculty and students and other stakeholders. Develops and implements policies and procedures that govern the Circulation Section, General Reference, Filipiniana, Periodicals, Graduate Library, Medical Library, The Basic Education Library and access to Internet Section.
The faculty, students, staff and alumni of EAC constitute the library’s regular readers.
Outside users, such as researchers and students of similar institutions, may research in the library every Wednesday upon presentation of their school/office, I.D. and referral letters from their library.

4. Type of Materials
Reference
Reference books designed to be consulted for bits of information rather than to be read consecutively, and normally includes almanacs, bibliographies, biographical sources, dictionaries, directories, encyclopedias, geographical sources, handbooks, indexes, manuals and yearbooks.
General Collection
The General Collection consists of books and other reading material, which are used as textbooks and references in the different course offerings. The books are shelved alphabetically according to Library of Congress Classification System.
Filipiniana
The Filipiniana Collection consists of books and other reading materials which deal with humanities and social science, etc. which identify the Filipino. These are local publications by local authors on a subject that is truly Filipino, or written in any Philippine vernacular or local dialect. These are materials published abroad, whether by a Filipino or foreign author, on a Philippine subject. Filipiniana books are marked with a “FIL” symbol to distinguish them from the other collections.
Periodicals
Periodicals are publications appearing at regular and fixed intervals of time under a distinctive title, which the publisher intend should so to appear, without any anticipated cessation.
You can find the daily newspaper issues on the newspaper racks. Loose issues of periodicals are properly displayed in magazine cabinets, while bound issues are arranged alphabetically by title on the shelves.Vertical Files
Vertical File includes collection of pamphlets, leaflets, annual reports, broadsheets and other ephemeral materials in various subjects to supplement the book collection. The materials are filed in folders arranged alphabetically by subject in filing cabinets. These are kept-up-to-date by discarding or weeding out those whose contents are no longer useful and were never borrowed for more five years. An index guide to the vertical file materials is prepared and available to the readers.

Non-book materials
This collection contains:
- Non-book reading materials such as video tapes, slides, Microfiche, radio, television, motion pictures, Photographs, recordings etc.
- Multi-Media Collection-Internet Access
- Examination Review System
Paperback Collection
This collection represents most of the least and best in popular fiction and in various field.
Theses
The Theses Collection is located inside the Graduate School Library, which includes the graduate theses. The undergraduate theses are project papers and feasibility studies submitted by students as requirements of some faculty members in their subjects. These materials can be found at General Reference Section.
The Graduate School Collection
This section is designed primarily for the research needs of the graduate students. Its collection includes not only books but also materials and publications such as theses, dissertations, and other studies, which are deemed necessary in the conduct of graduate research.
5. Library Rules and Regulations
- Students, faculty and employees of the EAC, MCM, UPSI, and MISG, with valid I.D. are entitled to the use of the Library.
- Borrowing privileges are not transferable and must be exercised personally. Tampered, no picture and not properly validated library card will not be honored.
- Book/s or any library material/s borrowed should first be endorsed to the librarian for inspection of any damaged/mutilated pages and if same is in good condition, the borrower signs properly the book card, leaves this to the librarian-in-charge together with her/his Library Card.
- Borrowers are responsible for book/s or any library material/s borrowed until they are returned.
- SILENCE and COURTESY must be strictly observed at all times inside the library.
- Group discussion, smoking, eating, littering and sleeping are not allowed in the library.
- Violation of library rules and regulations will subject student to disciplinary action and automatic revocation of library privileges.
Guidelines on Proper Use of the Library
1. General Circulation
Procedures in securing Library Card from the Library;
- Present current registration form plus two (2) copies of 1x1 picture to the librarian in-charge
- Fill-up application form for library card
- Affixed signature on library card form
- Librarian counter-checks information on application form
- Library card can be claimed the following day after application
Implementing Guidelines for Library Card:
- Only currently enrolled students may apply for library card
- The library card should be validated for the current semester
- Lost library card may be replaced three days after report of loss and upon payment of necessary fee
- Library card, same as the identification card, is non-transferable. Violation of this may result to the suspension of library privileges
Penalty for Lost Books
- Replacement with latest edition plus processing fee of P100.00 or,
- Payment of the book equivalent to its current market price plus processing fee of P100.00 or,
- For out-of-print books, 3 clear, hardbound photocopies of the lost book will serve as replacement plus processing fee of P100.00.
- In addition to any of the above three, borrower will have to pay for the accrued overdue fines.
Guidelines for Overnight Use (Students and Faculty)
- Only Students and faculty with library card properly validated for the current semester will be allowed to borrow.
- Only one book at a time can be borrowed for overnight renewable for a day if not in demand.
- Consecutive renewal is not allowed.
- Reservations will be on the “first come first served” basis.
- Overnight books should be returned on or before 9:00 A.M. of the following day.
- Failure to return overnight books on time will subject the borrower to penalty charges plus a first and last warning after which hi privilege for overnight loan shall be suspended for the rest of the semester.
- Release of overnight loans is from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
- Overnight loan is suspended one week before the start of the final examinations.
- Student with unreturned book/s or overdue accounts will not be issued their final grades.
Fines for Overdue Reserve Books:
- P5.00 will be charged for the first hour or a fraction thereof (9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.) and P1.00 for each succeeding hour or fraction thereof, until 4:00 P.M., that the book is kept beyond time.
- P20.00 will be charged for the first day the book is returned beyond 4:00 P.M. Succeeding days will be charged with P20.00 per day
2. Periodical Section (3rd Floor, EAC 1)
The Periodical Section is an “open shelf” system. Students, faculty, and other library users are free to consult any of the reading materials on display. Computerized Index to Philippine Periodical Articles (CIPPA) is provided, likewise index cards to periodical articles is also provided for the use of the students and faculty.
Periodicals are to be read only within the Periodical Section, they cannot be taken out to other sections of the library. Periodicals can be borrowed for photocopying purposes only.
A validated I.D. serves as a pass to the Section. Present this to the librarian upon entering the Section and sign your name on the log book provided for in the Reference Desk.
3. Reference Section (3rd Floor, EAC 7)
The References Section is on an “open shelf” system. Student, faculty and other library users are free to consult the reference books anytime when needed. They however, except for photocopying purposes, cannot be taken out of the Section.
A validated I.D. serves as pass to the Section. Present this to the librarian upon entering the Section and sign your name on the log book provided for in the Reference Desk.
4. Technology Resource Center (3rd floor, EAC 7)Audio-Visual Section
Audio-Visual materials can be borrow for AVR use or classroom teaching or learning by the teachers or Audio-Visual Technician. All transactions for reservation, borrowing, or returning of audio-visual materials must be made at the Audio Visual Circulation Counter.
Audio-Visual materials are for classroom or AVR use only. As courtesy to the next user, these should be returned immediately after use.
The borrower is held responsible for any losses or damages-whether intentional or accidental-involving any library materials borrowed.
The facilities for pre-viewing have been extended to include students aside from the academic force of the College.
Internet Services
Faculty and students are introduced to worldwide information by being provided with INTERNET access. This will enhance academic, research and training endeavor of the school.
Mechanics for Internet access by students:
- Student presents currently validated I.D. to the librarian in the control counter.
- Student log his/her name, student number, log-in time on the log book provided for the purpose
- Access to Internet will be on a “first come first serve” basis
- One hour per student is allowed and mat be extended only when no one is next in line
- A fee of P30.00 an hour or a fraction thereof will be charged per hour.
Examination Review System
This enables students to review for periodic examination questions from the Test bank through computer tutorials in the library.
Guidelines of the Examination Review System (Tutorials)
- Only bonafide students can avail of the Examination Review System
- Participants in the Review System must be computer literate
- Use of the computer will be on a first come first served basis. Reservation will not be allowed
- A fee per an hour or a fraction thereof will be charged. Computer automatically terminates at completion of the paid hour/s
- Users are not allowed to bring pencil/ball pen and paper inside the review area
- Only student may use the computer at a time. Sharing is not allowed
- Software Evaluation Form will be filled-up after the review
In order to render efficient and effective library services, the Students are encouraged to participate in the ordering of library References they use which are not available in the library.
Monthly List of New Acquisitions
A list of recent acquisitions (books and periodicals) arranged according to subject field are distributed to all Colleges. Copies are also posted on the library bulletin board for the information of students.
Mission
In keeping with the mission of the Emilio Aguinaldo College, the mission of the EAC Library is to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date information at the time it is needed by the students, faculty and staff of the college; to provide information support through reference and referral services, document delivery services online access to the library databases; and, to offer global access to information through the use of computers and communication technologies in the access and delivery of information, and the provision of an adequate collection and facilities.
