Engineering students from selected schools around NCR competed showcasing their built Robots design hosted by Mechatronics and Robotics Society of the Philippine (MRSP) held December 11, 2015 at MIRDC DOST, Taguig City.
Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC-Manila), represented by the Computer Engineering students, were elated upon receiving the 1st Runner-up Award. This debut experience in the competitive world of Robotics showcased the school’s solid foundation and team effort thereby putting EAC as a serious participant in this field.
All teams were given 1.5 hours to design and build their robots which were tested on the stage after the allotted period. EAC-Manila students, headed by their coach Dr. Nieva Reintar, worked within the 1.5-hour timeframe including the time necessary for the team to perform the testing & checking of the robot’s functionalities. From an early stage of the competition it was evident that EAC-Manila had the most efficient robot in terms of speed. The competition required that each team transfer 5 plastic cups from one point to another using the robots they designed and built. Accuracy, robot’s speed and maneuvering skills were the keys for the team to win.
EAC-Manila designed robotEAC-Manila making its debut on a robotic competition outside the campus was challenged and their best effort was rewarded when they finished 1st Runner-up with a recorded time of just 1 minute and 11 seconds. DLSU-Dasmarinas was the 2nd Runner-up, and Batangas State University (BSU) as the Champion of the 2015 MRSP competition.
