A Prodigal Son & rain of 3 points hurled EAC to its First Victory in 86th NCAA

The EAC Generals finally won their first in the 86th season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men’s basketball last July 28,2010 at the San Juan Fil Flying V Arena as they pounded out a 76-71 victory over the College of Saint Benilde (CSB) Blazers.

Having lost their first three games of the season, it is clear the Generals are back and finally adjusted and jelled as a team, which they proved by dominating the Blazers in every quarter of the game. Milan Vargas, a new member of the team, paced EAC’s charge with 17 points and was the key player for the Generals first win with his superb shooting and unbelievable speed; outrunning and penetrating into the Blazers defense. Together with Vargas in breaking the momentum of CSB throughout the game with their consistent 3-point shooting and sticky defense were Argel Mendoza, Lowel Yaya and Claude Cubo. The vicotry gave the Generals a new hope and light in the 86th NCAA basketball games.

The players' scores: Claude Cubo (12 pts) ; Argel Mendoza (11 pts); Lowell Yaya (8 pts); Russel Yaya (7 pts); John Santos (6 pts); Neil Tuazon (6 pts); Franz Chiong (4 pts); Jeffrey Lapitan (3 pts); and Jan Jamon (2 pts).
