EAC Dean Won the PAMET's Crisanto Almario Memorial Research Award

Dr. Supachai A. Basit, Dean of the School of Medical Technology, Satellite Head for Research and e-Learning in EAC Cavite and Professor 3 of the School of Medical Technology in Manila campus was the recipient of the 2011 Crisanto Almario Memorial Research Award given by the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. (PAMET).  The awarding ceremonies were held last November 30, 2011 in the occasion of  PAMET’s 37th Annual Convention at the Fiesta Pavilion of Manila Hotel.  The award was conferred by Sen. Edgardo Angara.

Dr. Basit won the said award for his notable and significant research studies focusing in Microbiology and other important areas of health concern which earned numerous honors and recognitions.  His previous researches were also recognized by the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), an advisory research body under the wing of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). He was also commended for his extensive experience as educator and researcher in health sciences, natural sciences and science education.  His considerable contributions in research publications and statistical analyses of research data were also cited.  Moreover, the citation also noted Dr. Basit’s outstanding accomplishments in improving his craft as researcher through higher studies, active involvement in professional organization (being an incumbent Vice-President and incoming President of the Philippine Society for Microbiology) and participation in community outreach programs.

The Crisanto Almario Memorial Research Award is being given annually by PAMET to a medical technologist who is active in research in pursuit of knowledge beneficial to the profession’s growth and the nation’s progress.  It was named after one of the pillars of PAMET, Mr. Crisanto Almario who first organized the PAMET convention in 1963. The association had started giving the award since 1983 and Dr. Basit is its 28th recipient.  PAMET is the only recognized Accredited Professional Organization (APO) of registered medical technologists in the Philippines by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
